California

June 7, 2016

Well, that’s a wrap on New York for me. Thanks to everyone who came out to my last show, and who bought any books or art or other stuff from me before I left, or got some of the free stuff I left outside my apartment. You guys really cleaned it out, good job! I’ve closed all my online shops except for original art, and TopatoCo will always selling shirts, mugs, prints and more. I didn’t close them because I’m quitting all that stuff, but because I will be in transit for the summer. After a month in California, I’ll be going to the MacDowell Colony for July and August, before returning to California for the fall. I’ll be in California for the fall and winter, working on this book, before re-evaluating my whole upturned mess of a life.

Notes to specific people in specific locations:

New York: I will be back in the fall of 2017 for a few months for book tour stuff, if you’d like to book me for a podcast, show or lecture (I have comics and history ones) in September/October 2017,  please feel free to email me and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. If your podcast allows phone-in interviews, I’m always available for those.

San Francisco/Bay Area/hometown– now that I’m back home, I’d love to see all my old pals, get in touch! I’m also free to do any of the stuff I mentioned above. I’m also looking to buy a car, so if anyone has a lead on a fairly newish toyota or honda with fairly low milage, hit me up. I’m talking like 2010 and up, 50k miles or less. I’m no longer at the point in my life where I can be driving 20 year old cars I paid $500 for, but I’m also hesitant to buy a new car because I’m a garbage person who can’t have nice things.

Here’s some stuff to listen to and look at!

Songs You’re Sick Of– one of the most fun podcasts I’ve done, and also the last one I did before leaving NYC, so I was a little, uh, fragile. Joe Dator and I dissected Melissa Manchester’s Don’t Cry Out Loud and related to/where horrified by its emotionally abusive message, and got upset about clowns. And other stuff.

Last month’s Harper’s cityscape was another installment of Greenpoint, and a short history of Greenpoint is up now on the New Yorker.

I’ve also been posting sketchy comics about my NY to CA move, which I post on social media, mostly on instagram. There are a bunch of social media button links on the sidebar, knock yourself out. Here’s a short one for ya:
