This comic written by me and illustrated by Laura Park. It originally appeared in Papercutter #6 many years ago.

I’m really charmed by how she drew you. It is so clearly not just you, but your comics character. My oldest is eleven and he keeps keeps a guide to puberty book under his pillows. He’s waiting for it to hit him, but he doesn’t know what it is yet (of course). It’s like that feeling you get when you’re on acid and you know something is just coming, and you pace around your friend’s living room muttering, “Anticipation. Anticipation. Anticipation. Anticipation.”

A very beautiful and touching story. Never thought I would say that about one involving a Playboy. A big shout out Laura Park for the excellent art.

An interesting counterpoint to the hormonal desperation in Chester Brown’s The Playboy. Thanks for the post!

I am shocked! SHOCKED I TELL YOU!! (That kids actually played Ewoks. Eww.)

Way better than ‘Stand By Me’. You look much happier when other people are drawing you! Too bad the internet has pretty much killed the outdoor-porno-mag environmental niche, I like to think my kids will someday find a beaten up Kindle with Fifty Shades on the screen somewhere under a bush…

I always thought I had a unique experience as a youth when my friends and I found what we affectionately labeled the Porn Woods. It was a grove near our house that seemed to be an endless source of discarded pornography mags. Growing up, I’m tickled that so many other people I know have this same experience. I’m glad you have yours.

You took those magazines home on occasion, didn’t you, Daniel? I know I did.
