taking a break from the sets/how to stuff that’ll start again next week to show you guys my cover for the French version of Drinking at the Movies. It comes out in November and I’ll be at Biennale of Carnets de Voyage in Clermont-Ferrand in November and then possibly in Angouleme for the comics festival in January. Then after all the dust settles, I’m leaving New York to start a whole new fresh mess in another city. I know which one but I don’t want to talk about it. I just want to sit on the time out bench with my arms crossed, pouting and listening to Joy Division on my Walkman. Also, there will be an ebook of Drinking at the Movies available from Random House in August/September for your digital consumption!

Moving *again*??? Whoaaaa.
I wish you the very best of luck, Julia! As long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters.
well, I did move to New York four years ago, that’s about as long as anyone can stay in a city when their job is always changing and can be done anywhere and I have nothing tethering me down to a particular place
Good luck with the move. Hope it’s to Chicago. I like the navy blue in that drawing, really lovely.
NY will surely be a bit emptier. I hope your new place of living will inspire you and you can keep us happy with lots of your art.
I like the cover, it looks melancholy but in a good way (if that makes sense?)
Wow It’s so cool you are coming in my lovely city ( ie. Clermont-Ferrand) if you have time and want a tour made by a local guy I’m all yours
also if you need any advice !
I hope you’ll like the city I’ll at the event as-well
world is small

Betting pool time. I put 1.00 down on Portland OR.
no. I don’t think I could ever seriously live in Portland because I believe/have witnessed Portlandia hook line and sinker
Hahaha Portlandia.Wonderful. You should move to Canada. We haven’t gone COMPLETELY crazy yet AND the music is better. Plus we have moose. Lots of moose.
Good luck with the move. Hopefully there will be something very odd in the new city that you will love.
Ooh, suspense! How about Des Moines, rated best city in the nation for young professionals by Forbes? Oh well, I didn’t think so. Best wishes wherever you’re headed.
Good luck with the move! I’m also kinda hoping it’s Chi-Town.
P.S. Joy Division RULES.
Why did they have you re-draw the cover for the french version?
Move to England! it rains a lot, shits expensive, healthcare is free, we are all miserable, but we dont shoot each other! (much) and we do have the best tea.
will, all AlterComics books have a particular aesthetic that makes them all match kind of, and the cover image is monotone, so the original cover looked terrible in one color. I opted to draw this image, which is just super simple, obviously New York, etc…I don’t think I’d ever use this for an American book because it’s so typical, but it works great for a French audience.
haha everyone guessing where I’m moving to is wrong. But don’t keep guessing, it’s pointless, just wait until I start making comics about it.
I’m hoping for New Orleans. That would make for some interesting comics, although it wouldn’t help on the whole “not drinking” front.
Can’t believe you are moving. How can one ever leave NYC again? I’m still totally weirded out.
Soooo You are moving to Philly! Awesome. its not so bad here… just you know… avoid the subway at night.
i love this drawing and the blue tone. it is actually very french, heh.
good luck with traveling and moving, what a necessary pain in the ass.
PUT A BIRD ON IT!
Hey will this french version of your comic be available on your website?? It should be please!
unfortunately, no, only through amazon or the publisher.
Is it too late to put in a story about maids in NYC then have the book company put a gold leaf sticker on each book entitled “SPECIALE DSK EDITION?” I bet that would sell like hotcak- er, lattes over there
haha i don’t care what you say i bet you’re moving to portland!!!!
