I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately and decided that instead of laying in bed and blowing everything out of proportion, I’m going to start doing apartment sketches again. I drew this one this morning, it’s my first apartment in San Francisco circa 2002. It was an illegal in-law unit I shared with three roommates. Once I came home to find the kitchen totally empty and the bathroom and my bedroom boarded up behind a false wall to fool the building inspectors. Sooo glad those days are over. Now the inspectors here in NY don’t give a shit that I live in an illegal basement studio.

wanna see it bigger? go here.

Like the way the rear part of the front room connects with the floor of the kitchen and adjoining bedroom for an accidental Escher effect. Nice attention to detail everywhere, too. Wish I had the attention to draw detailed pictures. Well done.
I sense an architectural Rick Geary inspired meta comic where, instead of objective panels, the walls to each room are the panels; the sort of stylistic flourish Will Eisner would do on The Spirit when he felt like dicking around. Maybe a party scene or an embellished story involving those building inspectors.
Anyway, cool drawing.
Ooooooooo, reminds me of Little Computer People! Okay so I’m a child of the ’80s or ’90s or something.
