Memory Lane

March 31, 2011

Sample archives for Fart Party Vol 1 and Vol 2 are up right now, I’ll slowly be adding to the archives over the next few weeks but will continue to do new comics too.

We decided to have a joint Pizza Island twitter account so we can report on important, timely news like Dew mouth and duck boners and so we can exchange heated words with Papa John’s Pizza. Follow us if you enjoy nonsense!

I look at my past with embarrassment. Happy Embarrassment. Grateful that I’m alive and a bit more insightful, so I try not to do the stupid things I did then, believe in the stupid things I did then or treat people stupidly like I did then. That stuff is more embarrassing than parachute pants and a mullet. Proud to still be a Boingo fan, however. Hush.

I completely agree with Trashcan Supermodel’s (best name!) assessment of nostalgia. It’s a trick, to be sure. Our brains erase a large % of the pain and suffering, add in a soft-focus lens and what’s left is a Potemkin Village of your life.

Plus, it’s the only explanation for people insisting that high school years are the best of your life. Evidence of the brain sham.

“add in a soft-focus lens and what’s left is a Potemkin Village of your life.” Ha! I like that. Luckily I actively remember that high school was the worst.

In the eternal words of Sunday’s Best: “I hate nostalgia, it tries to hard to remember only the easy parts.”

And I totally stand by liking that band. In high school.

Remembering what I had done in my teens and thinking about how lucky I was to get away with it….
Not to mention how wrong I was and how I thought I was right. But how fun it was :)

(Finally got my copy of DATM. Love it.)

My artwork was a reminder of my past. It makes me want to smack my younger self and explain why liking somethings will turn to mush in the future. Then again… I sometimes want to pat my younger self for some things as well, like explaining what the word “ignoramus” was to my classmate after I called him one. :D
