internet kerfuffle

February 16, 2011

As you may or may not know, I share a studio with 6 lovely cartoonist ladies that we call “Pizza Island.” This past week, two of my studio-mates Sarah Glidden and Domitille Collardey made a harmless diary comic about watching the news from Egypt and posted it on our collective blog. It was optimistic, devoid of a political agenda and was merely meant to show what it’s like daily for them to witness events in Egypt. Well, it got linked on Al Jezeera and people went nuts saying all kinds of ridiculous, accusatory things, when all the girls did was post a diary comic. You really should go read the whole debacle, it’s quite entertaining, and Sarah’s long, thoughtful (I hesitate to say) rebuttal, is worth reading as its own essay. Go the website to read the whole thing.

Perhaps this Momma cartoon is the comic everyone wanted to see about Egypt. This certainly won’t enrage anyone…

I wonder what the Family Circus take is on this? I'd like to see some of Jeffy's perplexing insight into the current 'troubles' in the Middle East
